Possible reasons why Chelsea lost at Anfield.

Chelsea played well in the first half but in the course of the game, they became careless and less creative. Most touches Liverpool made were in the opposition
's half. Here are some reasons likely to have made Chelsea lost the game:

1. Fatigue and tiredness.

Chelsea played two matches last week before meeting Liverpool in the EPL tie. This was seen during their pressing and lack of composure during possession. Chelsea didn't make more than 20 passes in a row without an interception. This could be a reason behind their loss.

2. Disorganised pressing.

This isn't Chelsea's problem but most teams when exposed to press this way. This always leave space behind and the opponent can utilise those spaces and cause problems to you. Liverpool were composed and sticked to their play build up and punished Chelsea from the empty spaces. The introduction of Higuain at least brought proper pressing as he urged his team mates frequently to press whenever they lost possession.

3. Liverpool's press.

Liverpool is a monster when it comes to pressing. They can frustrate you thus making you lose possession easily. Mostly,  we saw David Luiz making wrong passes because all his passing options were blocked. Also, Eden Hazard was seen being pressed by 3 to 4 Liverpool players hence losing possession.

4. Tight man-marking of Jorginho and Hazard.

Liverpool knew that these players were deadly and would cause problems to them thus they marked them tightly. We didn't see the impact Jorginho has in every game. The effect of Hazard was neutralised by Liverpool pressing in numbers.

5.Chelsea's wastefulness of Chances.

More chances Chelsea created on the 2nd half and Hazard missed them. The first chance Hazard was onside but his shot found the post and Liverpool defenders cleared the ball from their danger zone while the second one, his efforts were saved by Allison.

Can Chelsea secure a place in the top four by the end of the season?
