AFCON: Common Problems Facing Harambee and Taifa Stars In Group C.
Tanzanian national team-Taifa Stars took on Senegal while Kenyan Harambee Stars faced Algeria yesterday. Unluckily, both teams lost 2-0 in their preliminary matches. These teams are not strangers in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) as Taifa Stars played once while Harambee Stars played more than four times.
Reasons Why Taifa Stars lost:
Reasons Why Taifa Stars lost:
1. They defended from the first whistle. Taifa stars did not want to lose the match with a huge goal margin. They concentrated on a draw that's why they did not make a single shot on target.
2. Disorganised defence. Their defence was exposed easily immediately the ball surpassed the midfield. This made their goalkeeper, Manula to make numerous saves.
3. Ball drought in the opposition's third. This made Mbwana Samatta to drop deep in the midfield which at the end bearing no goals for the Tanzanian Side.

Why Harambee Stars lost:
1. Just like Tanzania's Taifa Stars, Harambee Stars were poorly organized in their defence which led to more problems to Matasi the goalkeeper. The second goal for Algeria, 7 Kenyan players were watching the ball inside the box while only 4 Algerian players were in the box and still they scored. You can now see how Kenya was disorganized during the match.
2. Poor passing accuracy. Harambee Stars easily lost possession hence giving Algeria the ball to launch attacks.
3. Lack of creativity in the midfield. Just like Tanzania, Kenya's midfield lacked creativity to suply enough balls for Olunga to score goals. Wanyama and Odhiambo often dropped deep to help in defending hence leaving a void space for Algeria to use.
