Manchester United Vs Liverpool Pre-match Analysis.

Liverpool will be travelling to Old Trafford to face Ole Gunnar's men who currently sit on 12th position in the EPL table. It will be a tough test for the Norgwean man to steer The Red Devils back to their winning ways. Manchester United have lost at most twice when playing Liverpool at home since 2009 in the EPL battle. Let's start by looking team news and tactics.

Team News

 It has been confirmed that both Paul Pogba and David De Gea will miss the clash. The duo picked their injuries during their international matches. It will be a blow for the Manchester giants to miss this duo in their first team.

 While on the other hand, Liverpool's Alison Becker and Matip might be featured on Sunday at Old Trafford. Egyptian captain Mohamed Salah might not be featured on Sunday's match because he picked an elbow injury in their clash with Leicester City last week but one.

Manchester United Tactics:

Mostly, Manchester United like to hit opponents on counter-attacks of which Liverpool should watch out. I can testify on the first half against Arsenal and their match versus Chelsea on the EPL opening fixture.

By using this approach, they can cause problems to Liverpool who prefer attacking using the widths i.e wingbacks help in attacks. This always leaves a void space on the width few metres from the centre-backs. By using fast-paced players and force them wide, Manchester United can grab a point or rather points in this match.

Liverpool's tactics explained.

 Jurgen Klopp's men are dangerous in pressing while Man Utd are not quick and able to build from the back and break this press.

Also, as I have explained above, Liverpool use central overloads i.e Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino always squeeze to pull the opposition defenders narrow. This will create gaps from the width and Alexander-Arnold with his colleague Robertson occupy those spaces to deliver crosses. That is the main reason that Alexander Arnold earned a spot in the book of records with 12 assists in a single EPL season.

Man United should be careful on this tactic. Also, Liverpool like creating spaces using Jordan Henderson and any other attacking midfielder. This creates a 2v1 on the flanks to outnumber their opponents.

Conclusion:

 Liverpool are on good form and look to continue with their winning streak. On the other hand, Man United look forward to bring back their lost glory and revive their top four hopes. Catenaccio involves a defensive play, tight marking of opponents and aggressive fouling. Mostly, this tactic was used to defend goal margins.
