People love football with passion in France but they hate these 5 Footballers with venom. Some of the people loved in France include Zizzou-Zinedine Zidane who will live in the fans' hearts after his tireless efforts to bring home the coveted FIFA World Cup trophy.
Today, I have a lost of 5 players who are hated in France:
1. Marco Materazzi
The Italian defender is arguably the most hated footballer in France after the Fifa World Cup finals in 2006 when he was headbutted by Zinedine Zidane in an old fashioned arguement. Materazzi revealed that “After the third clash, I frowned and he retorted: 'I'll give you my shirt later'. I replied that I'd rather have his sister than his shirt." Said Marco Materazzi. This is what led to the headbutt and Zidane was sent off the pitch. Later, France lost the final to Italy!
2. Herald Schumacher
The Germany goalkeeper is the second most hated player in France. Being nicknamed the Butcher of Seville, during the 1982 World Cup semi finals when Germany. French defender, Patrick Batiston jumped high alongside the keeper but he ended up being clamped and injured by Schumacher. Batiston lost several teeth during this ugly career ending clamping. France were eliminated once again!
3. Franck Ribery
The ex-Bayern Munich winger is among the best wingers ever to play the beautiful football games. Ribery featured in 80 appearances for Les Blues. However, Ribery has been accompanied with names infamous scandals like the laying an underage girls terming her a a prostitute.
4. Neymar Jr
The Brazilian superstar is hated by PSG fans in France for what they say it is a waste of resources.
Neymar performed well in the La Remontada where PSG suffered a 6-1 loss to Barcelona in the UCL quarter finals. After they signed Neymar, they saw more theatrics in him and is prone to injuries.
5. Patrice Evra.
Evra is considered a legend in Manchester United but not in France due to his bad acts. In one occassion, hewa seen kicking a kungfu a Marseille fan during his time at the club. Marseille were trailing 1-0 to Portugal' Victoria Guimaraes and Evra was a substitute warming up. Fans were coming to mock him before he opted to acrobatic kick him. He was later gined by UEFA and Marseille termianated his contract.
I can't forget to mention Mathieu Valbuena who interchanged two rival clubs in France, Olimpic Marseille and Lyon. Most fans saw him as a traitor. He also had his sex tape leaked.
