Post-Match Analysis: Reasons Why Chelsea Lost To Manchester United.

Both teams lined up in 4-5-1 but with different approaches. Man United's was clear from the begining. They wanted to hit Chelsea on transitions. On the other hand, Chelsea created chances mostly from being released from the midfield and also through the 3rd man technique.

Without possession, Chelsea kept a 4-4-2 formation while Man Utd used a 4-1-4-1 with Rashford pressing high up the pitch. It was a tactical battle between these two power houses and here are the reasons why Chelsea lost the match:

High Defensive Line.
This is the biggest opportunity which saw Ole Gunnar's tactics working. Man United knew Chelsea liked to keep a high defence. Just like Maurizio Sarri, Frank Lampard likes to his defence to support the midfield and forward to press the opposition. This usually leaves a void space behind Chelsea's defence. Ole Gunnar did his homework correctly and used Pogba to supply long balls behind Chelsea's defence.

Poor Pressing Techniques.
Chelsea always watched Man Utd building up from the back but lacked pressing strategies. Man Utd players are not very good with the ball like Barcelona. If Chelsea used positional press then Ole Gunnar's men would be in trouble. With this approach, Man Utd used a 3-4-3 formation to start from the back. Oftenly, Chelsea left Pogba unmarked which led to them being punished.

Disorganized Defence.
Kourt Zouma was not comfortable after misplacing a pass which he intended to give it to Christensen.
This made Ceasar Azpilicueta to squeze inside to cover  Rashford in the CBs and led to Chelsea's defence being torn apart and Rashford metted the 3rd goal. This also left Martial uncovered and brought problems to Lampard's men.

Pogba's Dominance.
The French international dominated in the midfield by assisting two goals from counter-attacks. This saw his long balls finding the forwards like Rashford which resulted into goals.
