Mbwana Ally Samatta Player Analysis And What He Might Offer To Aston Villa.

Mbwana Ally Samatta completed his move from Genk to Aston Villa for £10 million this summer. He is the First Tanzanian to play in the Premier League and the second in East Africa after Kenya's Victor Wanyama.

Mbwana Ally Samatta signed for Aston Villa from Genk during the January transfer window of 2019/20 season.

During his time in the Belgian League, Samatta scored a total of 42 goals in 75 matches. This shows he is a threat in front of the goal.

His impressive form in the UCL saw him scoring 3 goals in 6 matches. He scored one against Liverpool. In his 27th birthday, Samatta has won several awards as best African Player of the year  and earning a spot on the Africa XI. Also, he has captained Tanzanian National team, Taifa Stars in the AFCON championships.

Why he might shine at Aston Villa:

Making late runs in the box.

Samatta has mastered the art of making late runs in the box. This is one of the best technique a modern striker should posses. The likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez use this technique. This can help Samatta shine at Aston Villa and score many goals.

One-Touch finish.

Another incredible feature possessed by Mbwana Samatta is his one-touch finish in the box. The presence of Jack Grealish, El Mohammady and El Ghazi  can help him score goals. These players like playing crosses in the box and having Samatta in front, he can score goals for Aston Villa.

Finding Spaces between the lines.

Mbwana Ally Samatta can find spaces in between lines and know exactly where the gaps could be. This can help Aston Villa and his partnership with Jack Grealish and El Ghazi will cause a lot of problems to opposition defenders.

Linking with team mates.

Another virtue a striker should possess is linking up with teammates during the build up phase. Football involves a lot of teamwork and less individual efforts. Samatta has it all when it comes to linking up teammates. During his first appearance for Aston Villa vs Leicester, he linked up well with his teammates and Matt Targett scored the goal 12 minutes in the game.

Positional pressing.

Mbwana Samatta's unique way of pressing is the point of discussion on Aston Villa's social media pages. Samatta doesn't press opposition defenders in an anyhow way. He always block the most effective passing lane and leaves the less effective one. Mostly, Samatta blocks the middle penetration but allows the opponent to play in the far width where his teammates have the numbers advantage.
Before pressing, Samatta always looks back for any spaces left behind and is seen instructing a teammate to cover up somebody as he presses the opponent.
